About

Thank you for visiting and welcome to the home of The Spy Mom!

I am the mother of an incredibly adorable little boy who keeps me on my toes day in and day out! From the time that he was a small baby, my husband and I knew that we didn’t want the fact that we’d had a child to completely take away from everything we used to enjoy as a married couple. We loved going to restaurants, we loved getting on airplanes, and we loved staying in hotels. We were frequent visitors of five-star eateries and had stayed in some of the most luxurious accommodations in the country.  And rather than sit at home on our butts and wait for our kid to grow up a couple of years, we decided to take the plunge and start bringing him out and about with us on a regular basis.  Our little man is now a preschooler, and the kid is a total pro at the whole restaurant and travel thing because of the fact that we broke him in at such a young age.

Since we go out to eat and travel so much, I’ve found myself becoming sort of an impromptu ambassador for good customer service.  I can tell from the time that a server greets us at our restaurant table whether he or she is one of those servers who “gets it” and understands how hectic it can be dining out with kids.  Every time that we get an extremely accommodating server who takes one look at our little family and knows that he/she needs to be on top of things, I just want to shout from the rooftops about how awesome the service was at that particular eatery.  And every single time that we get one of those, “I don’t care if you have a kid or not, I still don’t give a damn about you and need to take a smoke break” kind of servers, I want to call the manager over to our table and let him know that he needs to be a little more selective in hiring his wait staff.

Now that The Spy Mom has been born, I don’t have to keep my mouth shut anymore.  My plan is to go about my daily life, and when I encounter very good or very bad customer service, I plan on posting a review of the restaurant, hotel, or other venue on this site.

Most of the reviews will take place in the Northeast, since that is where I live, but I will also be conducting reviews in cities that I travel to, whether it be for a day trip or a vacation.  The majority of these reviews will pertain to whether or not places are accommodating to families, but I will also expose great and not-so-great customer service stories from when my husband and I manage to escape out for a date night!  Mom and Dad deserve good service too, especially since they don’t get out that much!

Please check back often for new reviews…and if you are in the customer service profession…you may want to keep you manners in check…because you never know when or where I will pop up!
